Parking Lot Striping in Farmington, MN
Farmington is ten minutes down Highway 3 from our shop in Rosemount. We stripe new lots on fresh asphalt, restripe faded ones, and sub for the paving and sealcoating contractors working Dakota County.
Striping a Farmington lot
A lot of the work we do in Farmington is new. The town keeps building, and every new commercial lot, church addition and townhome phase needs a layout on bare asphalt. We take the stall count and aisle widths from the civil sheet or plan it on site, chalk the lines, and stripe it with the ADA stalls, fire lane and arrows in the right place the first time. New layouts take more measuring than a restripe, so we quote them separately and tell you up front.
The rest is restripes. Faded stalls along Pilot Knob Road, Highway 50 and the downtown blocks off Third Street, school lots, church lots, and the small lots behind the shops on Elm Street. Farmington gets the same plows and salt as the rest of Dakota County, so one to three years is the normal life of a stripe here.
We use solvent-based traffic paint in 4 inch lines on every lot. It bonds harder than waterborne paint, it goes on in cool mornings and on damp pavement when waterborne cannot, and it holds up through winter.

Working with paving contractors
Paving and sealcoating contractors working Farmington and the rest of Dakota County use us as their striping sub. The paver finishes, the asphalt or sealcoat cures, and we are there the next dry day so the contractor can close the job and get paid. We lay out from the plan or from the old lines, carry $1.5M umbrella insurance, and send the certificate of insurance and W-9 the same day you ask. The photo above is a Farmington lot where the paver finished on a Friday and we striped it that Sunday.
Where we work around town
Schools: Farmington Area Public Schools lots and bus loops get restriped in June and July, between sealcoat season and the first day of school.
Downtown and Third Street: small lots, angled stalls and alley parking, striped early morning before the shops open.
Highway 50 and Pilot Knob Road retail and medical: stalls, ADA, fire lanes and arrows, usually restriped overnight or on a Sunday morning so customers are never parking on wet paint.
Churches and townhome associations: restripes on a weekday, building by building for associations so nobody loses their spot.
New construction anywhere in town: layout, chalk and stripe within days of the asphalt curing.
